Parenting Support

You have good kids.

You are a good parent.

You’re trying, you really are, but you feel like you just can’t seem to consistently “do the right thing” when it comes to your interactions with your kids.  You’re raising your voice with them more than you ever thought you would, you’re throwing out threats or consequences that you won’t see through, and you and your partner are inconsistent about enforcing the “rules”.

You can see that it’s not helping and it’s affecting everyone - you feel bad about reacting in a way you wish you wouldn’t have, the kids are unclear about where the boundaries are, and it’s causing strain with your partner.  It’s exhausting.

Parenting is just plain hard.  It doesn’t come with a guidebook at all, much less one that is specific to your child and family.

MEET YOUR THERAPIST

Hi, I’m Jessica, and I can help.

Parenting is a huge job and parents are often not given the support that they need to be successful. I know that you have good kids. And, I also know that you are a good parent (even on the days that you don’t feel like you are). Let’s think together about how your family can create more moments of ease and playfulness. A new path forward is possible, one with less tension and stress. Let’s get started by taking the first small step. Parenting support can help add some ease back into your family life.

I work with parents who are interested in short-term, tailored parenting support on a specific area of concern.  Together, we can identify new strategies for relating to your kids while also maintaining boundaries and, most importantly, preserving the connection at the heart of the relationship.  You have good kids and you are a good parent.  And, like so many of us, we need more support to get out of a pattern that is no longer working for the family.

Entering into parent support is an opportunity to take a look at a particularly tricky dynamic within the family or with a specific situation and to think about how to approach it differently.  Together, we will discuss and identify practical approaches that you feel could work for your family.   Parenting support clients initially sign up for short-term support over 3 to 5 sessions and have the opportunity to add on more or return for additional meetings at another time.

  • Schedule a complimentary 15-minute introductory call by clicking here. This call is an opportunity for us to discuss what’s bringing you to seek out parenting support, what you’re hoping to achieve, and if we’re a good fit. It’s also a chance for you to ask questions if anything about the process is not clear.

  • My fee is $225 for a 50-minute session.

  • I do not currently accept insurance but I can provide a superbill for you to submit to your insurance provider.

  • When working together for parenting support we will plan to meet for at least three sessions and ideally, those sessions will be scheduled on consecutive weeks. We can find the same time each week to make it consistent and reschedule if/when needed. Engaging in this work on a consistent weekly basis will help us build some momentum from which to work while also providing time and space for you to try some of the strategies we discuss.

  • Parenting support is intended to be short term and solutions oriented. We’ll identify practical strategies that work for your family and that you can start implementing right away. We’ll start with 3 to 5 consecutive, weekly sessions and there will be an opportunity to add on more, as needed. There is also the option to return for additional meetings at another time should other areas of concern arise.  After engaging in parenting support if there is interest in pursuing a deeper level of exploration there may be an opportunity to continue to work together in individual or couples therapy.

I am most interested in helping you achieve your parenting goals, if it seems like you are not making progress or I am not the right therapist for you we can discuss referrals to other providers.

  • All cancellations or requests to reschedule must be made 48 hours in advance of your session time. If your session is missed or cancelled with less than 48 hours notice, you will be charged the full session fee.

  • Parenting support sessions are designed for parents or adult caregivers and children are not part of the session. In single parent/caregiver households, one parent can attend. In households with two parents/caregivers, attendance from both parents is ideal.
